Titanium ethoxide Usage
1. Reaction Catalyst: TET is used as a Lewis acid catalyst for esterification, transesterification, condensation and addition reactions. Typical reaction products include (meth) acrylates, polyesters, plasticizers, various esters and polyurethanes. Benefits include elimination of by-products, improved yield, ease of workup, low catalyst concentration and low toxicity.
2. Crosslinking agent: TET can be used to crosslink a functional group-containing polymer or binder with a group such as -OH or -COOH.
3. Coating: Glass, metal, filler and pigment can be treated with TET to increase surface hardness, promote adhesion, improve heat resistance, chemical resistance, corrosion resistance and scratch resistance, increase iridescence or coloration effect or enhance Light reflection.
4. TIO2 pigments and films: TET can form micron or nano TiO2 pigments, and can also be used to form polymer TiO2 films on the surface by pyrolysis or hydrolysis (eg sol-gel) processes. The full or partial hydrolysis of TET in sol-gel applications, usually in combination with other metal alkoxides, results in a metal oxide system for use as a binder or coating.
