Ivermectin Usage

3.Mechanism of action
Ivermectin binds to the glutamate-gated chloride ion channel of the parasite, causing a large influx of chloride ions, paralyzing the parasite’s neuromuscular system and eventually killing it. The central nervous system (CNS) of mammals has a blood-brain barrier, and it is difficult for drugs to enter at normal doses, so it is safer, but high doses may still cause neurotoxicity (especially for certain breeds of dogs, such as Collies).
