Dimethyl disulfide Usage
1. Used as a solvent, a passivator for a catalyst, a pesticide intermediate, and a coking inhibitor
2. Dimethyl disulfide reacts with cresol to form 2-methyl-4-hydroxybenzyl sulfide, which is then condensed with O, O-dimethylsulfuryl chloride in an alkaline medium to obtain fenthion. Fenthion is a highly effective and low-toxic organophosphorus insecticide with excellent control effects on rice aphids, soybean borers, and burdock larvae.
3. Used as a fuel and lubricant additive
4. It is the main raw material of methylsulfonyl chloride and methanesulfonic acid.
