Insect attractants are specific insecticides that induce insects to produce behavioral responses. This is a class of trace volatile chemicals. Insects have the habit of finding heterosexuals, food sources, and spawning sites based on such substances. They can be used to trap pests and predict and forecast.

Insect attractants are highly volatile and attract long-distance insects with high activity. The eugenol methyl ether can induce male fruit fly, 1.6 km away, with a perceptible dose of 1×10-8 g.
