Usage
1. Iminodiacetic acid is an intermediate of the herbicide glyphosate.
2. This product is used as a raw material for glyphosate in pesticides, rubber and ammonia carboxyl complexes.
3. This product is used as a synthetic raw material for amino acid type chelating resin. It is also an important raw material and intermediate for rubber and electroplating industry. It is also used as an intermediate agent for surfactants and complexing agents.
4. Bovine liver glutamate dehydrogenase inhibitor.
Iminodiacetic acid (IDA), with the CAS number 142-73-4, has many uses, including:
- Protein purification: IDA is used to make IDA-type adsorbents for protein purification.
- Methyl methacrylate polymerization: IDA is used as a catalyst along with iron (FeCl3) complexes for methyl methacrylate (MMA) polymerization.
- Metal ion removal: IDA is used to make chelating resins to remove metal ions from industrial waste water.
- Glyphosate production: IDA is an intermediate in the production of the herbicide glyphosate.
- Capillary electrophoresis: IDA is used to modulate peptide mobility in capillary electrophoresis.
- Xylenol orange production: IDA is a precursor for the production of the indicator xylenol orange.
- Liver, gallbladder, and bile duct imaging: IDA is used in a hepatobiliary iminodiacetic acid (HIDA) scan to diagnose problems with these organs.
- Chelating agent: IDA is a chelating agent.
