Isobutyric Acid Usage
1. Used to produce various esters. Methyl isobutyrate has apricot aroma, propyl isobutyrate has pineapple flavor, isoamyl isobutyrate has banana flavor, octyl isobutyrate has grape flavor, and benzyl isobutyrate has grassy fragrance.
2. Used in the manufacture of varnishes and plasticizers
3. Isobutyric acid has some important derivatives which are industrially used to produce isobutyronitrile intermediates and then converted to isobutyl hydrazine hydrochloride as the raw material for insecticide diazinon.
4. Used for preservatives, leather deashing and disinfectants in organic synthesis
