Usage:
Tetraethylene glycol dimethyl ether can be used as an excellent solvent for alkali gold hydrides. It is used in a variety of chemical reaction processes such as alkylation condensation and reduction. Since the compound is Lewis basic can selectively absorb acid gases and is used in the purification of synthesis gas, natural gas, acetylene, and other gases.
The chemical with CAS number 143-24-8 is tetraethylene glycol dimethyl ether (TEGDME), also known as tetraglyme:
- Solvent: Used as a solvent for paints, inks, adhesives, cleaning products, and other coatings
- Lithium-ion batteries: Used as a reagent in lithium-ion batteries
- Heat pumps: Used as an additive for adsorption refrigeration and heat pumps
- Separation processes: Used as a solvent for separation processes and high temperature reactions
- Glucose sensors: Used to coat glucose sensors to make them “non fouling”
- Cell adhesion: Helps promote cell adhesion
- Protein adsorption: Helps in selective adsorption of proteins
TEGDME is a polar aprotic solvent with a high boiling point and excellent thermal and chemical stability. It has the chemical formula CH₃O(CH₂CH₂O)₄CH₃.
Storage: keep low temperature and keep drying
Shelf life: 12 months with package
